BERKLEY STATEMENT ON CONFIRMATION OF JUDGE SONIA SOTOMAYOR TO U.S. SUPREME COURT

 (August 6, 2009 -- Washington, D.C.)  Congresswoman Shelley Berkley today praised the Senate’s confirmation of Judge Sonia Sotomayor for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court.      

“Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s unique qualifications and extensive legal experience make her the right choice to serve as our nation’s newest Supreme Court Justice,” said Berkley.  “Her confirmation sends a strong message to young people in Nevada and across our nation that with an education, and through hard work and determination, every individual can achieve his or her own vision of the American dream.  I am thrilled that Judge Sotomayor has been confirmed and I am confident that her selection will serve as an inspiration to Americans from every walk of life.”
